The leaves have fallen, nothing remains. And as they waited in clumps and layers, thick and sparse, in nooks and against logs, blowing across fields and in as many places as leaves… the waters froze. Lakes and streams, puddles and ponds, all taken to quiet waiting with their belongings tightly sealed away.

Back from a sanity check…
And in the mean time the leaves have all fallen. Only dead ones remain gripped onto the occasional tree, those that hold on all through the long winter months. Dried memories that resist wind and snow and ice.
